The end of boating season is near! As much as we love summer and don’t want to store the boat away just yet, now is the time to start thinking about it. Do you know what’s the best way to prepare your boat for end of season and ultimately winter storage? Here’s a few things to consider.
Fix it before you dock it.
Taking care of all your boat upholstery repairs before you store the boat for the rest of the year will protect you from any unwanted surprises in the next boating season.
When inspecting your boat, pay close attention to your canvas, cushions and carpets. If needed, get them repaired in the fall. Many marine repair and upholstery shops offer steep discounts in the fall or during the off-season, so take advantage of that.

Other things to consider doing before you dock away your boat is draining all liquids from the boat, adding a fuel stabilizer and changing out the engine oil. Read more about this part of boat maintenance in this article.
Storage
Once your boat is ready for the end of season, it’s time to choose a safe storage. Whether it’s a dry boat storage (out of the water) or a marina boat storage (in the water), the best way to protect your investment is storing your boat under cover and in a secure site.
